About Us

The principals behind Closed in Cozumel are Lara Sorensen and Brent Bard. Both are avid divers with a history of involvement in recreational diving, combined they share 49 years of diving experience.

They share a background in skin diving, open circuit diving, dive leadership, dive training and dive travel. Their interest in continuing educaton has lead to Rebreather diver Certifications and Instuctor Trainer Certifications. Equipment sales are backed by their thourough understanding of design, function and their ability to service.

Brent has been diving for 32 years and has developed a special interest in open and closed circuit instruction and dive safety instruction. His background in the design and manufacturing of a NIOSH (National Institue of Occupational Safety and Health, located in Pittsburgh, PA) approved lock on life support system lends an unique understanding of equipment design and features. In addition, Brent has a strong background in service and repair requirements for both diving and the petrochemical industry.

Lara has been diving for 17 years and has developed a special interest and ability in the travel arena. As a rebreather diver she proves that it is not just for men.

 

 

Who is Idea?

IDEA represents the “Pioneer in Diving Education,” they have been involved in Diver certification continuously since being established in 1952 as part of the Florida Skin Divers Association – FSDA. In February of 1978 the FSDA voted to expand the Scuba Training Committee to an international certification agency. A new name, a new logo and a new direction resulted in IDEA.
